Evening Unwind

Five quiet shapes that fold the day away — ending flat on the floor, completely done.

Evening calm5 postures · about 12 mingentle

In the simplest words

Wind-down moves for bedtime: cat-cow, curl up like a child, fold in half, make a little bridge, then lie star-fish still. After this, sleep comes looking for you.

Practise along

Step through the postures at your own pace with the arrows, or press play and let each posture time itself. Arrow keys work too.

Cat–cow, slowly

Breathe naturally

Six unhurried rounds, letting the day's stiffness melt with the breath.

Posture 1 of 5

What it is

Curated for after sunset, when the body holds the whole day's sitting: wave the spine, rest in child's pose, fold forward, open the chest with a soft bridge, and surrender into shavasana. Everything is slow, nothing is strong — pair it with bhramari or so'ham afterwards and the night is prepared.

Where it comes from: Curated by Dharamkira from the classical poses on this page — a sequence, not a scripture.

Rounds & rhythm

Once through, slower than feels necessary. Let shavasana run as long as it wants.

What it is kept for

Releasing the day's tension, preparing deep sleep, evenings after screens.

Before you practise — health first

With disc or sciatic trouble keep the forward fold shallow; skip the bridge in late pregnancy and rest on the left side instead of flat shavasana.

Every posture, in order

  1. Cat–cow, slowly

    natural breath

Six unhurried rounds, letting the day's stiffness melt with the breath.

  2. Child's pose

    natural breath

Fold back over the knees, forehead down, and breathe into the back ribs.

  3. Seated forward fold

    natural breath

Legs long, spine long, fold gently over them — depth is irrelevant tonight.

  4. Soft bridge

    natural breath

Lift the hips only halfway; five breaths of open chest, then melt down slowly.

  5. Shavasana

    natural breath

Lie back, release everything, and watch the breath breathe itself.
