About this mantra
The bīja-mantra of Venus — Shukracharya, guru of the asuras in the Puranas. Jyotisha counts Shukra as the significator of love, beauty, the arts, comfort and the spouse.
Meaning
Om — with the seed-syllables drāṁ drīṁ drauṁ saḥ — salutations to Shukra, Venus, preceptor of the asuras and lord of all that makes life sweet. The jaap asks that beauty, love, and comfort come as blessings rather than cravings — enjoyed with a steady heart.
When to recite it
Fridays; in matters of relationship and marriage, for artists before their work, and where comfort has turned to craving and needs steadying.
