About this mantra
The seed-form of the Hanuman mantra — the bija Ham joined to his name, chanted for inner strength and protection.
Meaning
Om — Ham — salutations to Hanuman. Ham is the seed-syllable tradition attaches to his name; it is also the out-breath of the haṁsa breath-mantra, which suits the son of the wind. The bija form of his mantra is used when what is needed is not a story but a surge — one syllable, repeated until fear runs out of air.
When to recite it
The quick surge — before entering the difficult room, within Tuesday and Saturday practice, and in sudden fear when there is no time for a longer prayer.
