About this mantra
Bhanu — 'the shining' — the fourth name, saluting the sun purely as light: not its heat, not its power, just the fact that it shines and everything is seeable. Of the twelve names it is the simplest — and the hardest to exhaust.
Meaning
Om, salutations to Bhanu — the sun as sheer shining. Everything the eye will ever see, it sees by borrowed light; this mantra pauses one breath to thank the lender. To bow to Bhanu is to notice the seeing itself, before any of the things seen.
When to recite it
One of the twelve names of the Surya Namaskar cycle — recited one per posture at sunrise, or counted together as a Sunday (Ravivar) jaap. Bhanu suits practice for clarity — study, writing, any work where seeing clearly is the whole task.
