About this mantra
The bīja-mantra of Mars, whom the mantra calls Bhauma, 'son of the earth', the same name the morning graha verse gives him as Bhumi-suta. Jyotisha counts Mangal as the significator of courage, energy, land and brothers.
Meaning
Om, with the seed-syllables krāṁ krīṁ krauṁ saḥ, salutations to Bhauma, Mars, son of the earth. Mars is heat that can build or break. The jaap asks that its edge become courage, stamina, and clean decisiveness rather than temper and haste.
