The story & purpose
Fifteen days after Janmashtami, Radha appeared at Barsana to Vrishabhanu and Kirti — found, tradition sings, as a lotus-child on the Yamuna's waters. In Braj she is not consort but sovereign: the presiding queen of prema-bhakti, whose name is spoken before Krishna's own — Radhe-Shyam, Radha-Krishna.
The theology is tender and deep: Radha is Krishna's own hladini-shakti, his capacity for joy, standing apart so that love can happen. To keep her day is to honour the truth that God too longs — and that longing, offered purely, is the shortest road home.
