About this mantra
Salutation to Shri Mata, the Divine addressed simply as Mother — the first of the Lalita Sahasranama's thousand names, and used on its own as a mantra.
Meaning
Om, salutations to the Sacred Mother. Of Lalita's thousand names this stands first, and the tradition reads the order as doctrine: before the cosmos-ruler, before the queen upon the throne, she is Ma. So the mantra needs no qualification to use — whoever can say 'mother' is qualified. The bow is a child's, and is received as one.
When to recite it
Daily remembrance of the Mother — mornings, Fridays, and Lalita Sahasranama days; and the moments when what is needed is simply to be someone's child.
