About this mantra
The shortest of the Rama mantras — three words that need only breath where longer prayers need time. Devotional tradition holds that Rama's name carried Hanuman across the sea, and that it carries the one who says it just as far.
Meaning
Victory to Shri Rama. Three words that work as greeting, vow, and remembrance at once — dharma's side, taken out loud. Said meeting a neighbour, it blesses; said alone before something difficult, it strengthens. The smallest of the Rama mantras carries the whole of what his name promises: that the right thing, seen through, wins.
When to recite it
Said meeting others, setting out, and completing an effort; Ram Navami's processions ring with it.
