For nine nights the Devi is worshipped through her nine forms, Shailaputri to Siddhidatri, on the nights Mahishasura fell. Bengal builds her pandals for Durga Puja; Gujarat circles her flame in garba; homes keep the kalash and the akhand jyoti.
